To lift, to climb
760 x 760
Mixed Media - Paint, dress patterns, graphite, charcoal, metallic foil
This is an artwork created as part of my 'Paper Doll' series which looks at notions of identity, culture, community, and connection.
In this artwork figures are climbing up and down with helping hands moving from shoulder, to hand, to foot, to head, a chain of people supporting and helping each other. They are working to rise up from the mountains (or difficulties of life) to reach beyond to a better place. They are inter-connected souls finding a way together.
Yellow is an invigorating colour. It is stimulating, making us more alert and energized. Yellow boosts our memory, and it encourages communication. It’s a color that promotes activity and interaction. It also symbolizes happiness, warmth, and sunshine in most cultures; these are characteristics of the yellow sun and its effects.
