Mist - the nurturing breath
760 x 760
Mixed Media - Paint, dress patterns, graphite, charcoal, metallic foil
This artwork is part of my 'Paper Doll' series which looks at notions of identity, culture, community, and connection.

In one Maori tradition, the mist is said to be the soft, warm sighs rising from the Earth's mother Papatūānuku. This is a sign of her love for Ranginui (the sky father), who was separated from her. These thoughts inspired my artwork about connection to our environment. How we exist in a space balanced between the earth and sky, in a perfect zone that nurtures us.
