Imagine living life in peace
760 x 760 Mixed Media - Paint, dress patterns, graphite, charcoal, metallic foil Commission |
This is an artwork created as part of my 'Paper Doll' series which looks at notions of identity, culture, community, and connection.
This commission started out as a difficult proposition, to create an artwork about war. I took some time to think and decided to work with lyrics from A Perfect Circle's song "(What’s So Funny ’Bout) Peace Love and Understanding". This translated into an artwork with the hint of a red cross symbol in the background, many people connected together in hope and strength, even in the face of despair. The negative spaces from the bottom row of people were used to create shapes above that look like either bombs or shields. |
