05 February 2010 - First Thursday was a great experience, though a lot of standing around for 3 hours. I was able to set up with work facing the road, a great place to see everyone come and go. Had lots of positive feedback. Thanks to friends and family who came and helped out!

29 January 2010 - First Thursday is held in St Kevin's Arcade, K Road, Auckland and it's running from 6pm till 10pm. I will have 6 pieces on display in the upcoming 4th February show there. Go to http://www.firstthursdays.co.nz/index.php/4th-february/artists.html for information and scroll down to see my bio entry. Everyone is welcome - I'm looking forward to it! The event has more then tripled in size this time around. All the shops will be open, live music is lined up (recloose just confirmed doing a live on air spot from 6-8!), and Mac’s Issaccs Cider is sponsoring the event again. A fun after party is lined up with a few bands and DJ sets at Khuja from 9 onwards. There will be a door charge as sorry, I will not be able to go to the after party in order to get you a free pass.
9 October 2009 - As promised I have made a start on placing some examples of my design work in DESIGN . Also, and exciting for me, my friend Dixie Lee took some amazing pictures of my 38 week pregnant belly. They are awesome and though I am no model, made me feel special and are really nice to have. Love the painting inspired shot below with my red handprint!

4 October 2009 - Welcome to the first entry of my blog. No fanfare, just figured it would be a good idea to start one in order to inform anyone interested in my work about how my painting and design work is progressing. 'Spose it's a way of keeping myself motivated as well.
This year has been a busy one and being pregnant has occupied most of my energy. Even so a few art works have made it out inbetween working full-time and doing some part-time designing from home. Current artwork can be seen on page PAINTINGS - CURRENT. There are another two pictures I'm working on at the moment, definately works in progress as they have been sitting there for ages, but they'll get done eventually.
I'm planning on putting up some design work samples soon in order to let folks know what I have been doing and what I am capable off - more work would be welcome!
However, at 38 weeks pregnant who knows when time will be cut short and I will be completely swamped in feeding, sleeping and nappies! I'm planning to get back to it all come mid November though.
If you have any questions or commments about anything I bring up in blogs or to do with my work, feel free to email.
All the best, Arwen. |
